Today: What IF the world ran on 100 percent renewable energy?

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean island will be struggling to rebuild for years. But what does rebuilding look like and how can renewable energy be a part of those efforts? Jorge Haddock, president of the University of Puerto Rico, will address this question today (Feb. 6) in his lecture “What IF the world ran on 100 percent renewable energy?” The event is a part of Purdue’s Ideas Festival.

Losing focus groups: New technology gives stronger voice to people, helps companies improve service

Say goodbye to the conventional focus group and its lack of real-time feedback. A Purdue-affiliated startup has created technology to help companies better capture people’s feedback on services rendered and make improvements. In an era where real-time information is king, the technology is designed to help companies collect feedback for a variety of applications such as hearing from a hospital patient about their stay, employees about workplace conditions or tracking what visitors actually do when they visit a museum.

Footprints: Sam Allen

Sam Allen, John Deere chairman and CEO, began his Purdue career as an engineering student, but soon after, he found a new love and passion for industrial management. Allen took a variety of courses in engineering, marketing and management that allowed him to take a giant leap as CEO. With John Deere operating in 140 countries, Allen is leaving footprints around the world.

in recycling contest

For the ninth consecutive year, Purdue University is participating in RecycleMania, a recycling competition among higher education institutions in the United States and Canada. The contest runs through March 30. Physical Facilities asks the West Lafayette campus community to get involved by recycling paperwork and other unneeded materials.
