In an increasingly automated world, what IF AI tools punish the poor?

Virginia Eubanks, associate professor of political science at the University of Albany, SUNY, will address "What IF AI Tools Punish the Poor?" in her lecture at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. Eubanks will argue that government data and its abuses have worsened inequality and created a digital poorhouse by imposing a new regime of surveillance, profiling, punishment, containment and exclusion in our society.

Giant Leaps Research: Regan Bailey

Feeding a hungry toddler can be one of the biggest challenges parents and caregivers face every day, especially when trying to provide healthy meals quickly. Young children need a diet to provide key nutrients such as iron, calcium, vitamin C, fiber, potassium and more to grow and be healthy. Regan Bailey, a registered dietitian and nutritional epidemiologist, understands the issue and works on simple changes in diets, complete with the proper amount of nutrients to keep us healthy.
