Purdue announces
record-breaking year in commercialization activities

Purdue had record-breaking numbers in commercialization activities highlighted by 24 startups based on Purdue's intellectual property, tripling the previous year's number, Purdue Research Foundation officials announced today (July 10). This and other existing Purdue startups drew more than $20 million in publicly announced funding last year.

Record new donors, more dollars for Purdue in 2013-14

Purdue raised more than $235 million in gifts from more than 65,000 donors and, in the process, set records for first-time donors and student support for the fiscal year that ended June 30. Both the amount raised and number of donors are substantial increases over the previous year.

Web templates to be distributed Tuesday

Responsive Web templates will be available Tuesday (July 15) for University developers who wish to use the same branded design and format as the forthcoming Purdue home page.

ITaP retiring old PAL 2.0 wireless system at end of July

ITaP is retiring the old PAL 2.0 wireless system on July 31 because it is slower, less secure and not as compatible with current-generation devices as the newer PAL 3.0, available at Purdue since 2012. Faculty, staff and students who still use PAL 2.0 should switch to PAL 3.0 before Aug. 1.

Today: Northwestern Avenue lane closures, limited access to Northwestern garage

The City of West Lafayette will be closing lanes and detouring traffic on Northwestern Avenue between Stadium Avenue and Grant Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (July 10) as part of the ongoing pedestrian safety improvement project. The Northwestern Avenue entrance and exit for the Northwestern Avenue Parking Garage also will be closed today.

OIE seeking volunteers to test accessibility compliance software

The Office of Institutional Equity is seeking volunteers to help test and pilot a new software program, Compliance Sheriff, which will be used as a resource for the West Lafayette campus to ensure compliance with the Web Accessibility Policy.

Battery disposal: When rechargeable isn't reusable

How to dispose of spent rechargeable batteries can provoke questions in the summer during preparations for the new academic year. At Purdue, Radiological and Environmental Management provides recycling processes and information to ensure adherence to U.S. environmental regulations.

International Friendship Program looking for host families

The Office of International Programs has an ambitious goal in the coming year -- to match 600 new international students with local families through the International Friendship Program. Faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the program at orientation sessions being held in July.

Forty-three student-athletes receive Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award

The Big Ten Conference honored 43 Purdue student-athletes as Distinguished Scholar Award recipients on Wednesday (July 9). Six of Purdue's honorees earned 4.0 GPAs in 2013-14.

Ross-Ade south end zone plans revealed

Purdue Athletics officials have announced plans for a new Ross-Ade Stadium South End Zone Patio, which will be available to football season-ticket holders and Purdue students who have purchased the VIP Card.

Volleyball scrimmage, alumni match dates set

Purdue volleyball will hold its intrasquad scrimmage at 2 p.m. on Aug. 16 and the annual alumni match at 6 p.m. on Aug. 23.

Purdue and Missouri football to meet in 2017 and 2018

Purdue and Missouri have finalized an agreement for a home-and-home football series in 2017 and 2018. Purdue will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Sept. 16, 2017, and will host the Tigers on Sept. 15, 2018.
