Veterans Day

Purdue Today honors
veterans with profiles

As part of the University's observance of Veterans Day, Purdue Today is profiling three Purdue employees who have also served in the military -- Sandra Dye, an operations manager for the Office of the Vice President for Research; Gary Steinhardt, professor of agronomy; and Kevin Vedder, director of organizational change management.

Purdue Student Union Board to salute veterans

Purdue will honor veterans in a tribute at 11 a.m. today (Nov. 11) in Purdue Memorial Union's Great Hall. The annual event and displays are organized by the Purdue Student Union Board.

Purdue employee/veteran to speak about deployment

The Office of Institutional Equity will present a "Debriefing with a Recently Deployed Veteran" on Thursday (Nov. 14). Kevin Vedder, lieutenant colonel in the Indiana Army National Guard and director of organizational change management in Purdue Human Resources, will share experiences from his recent yearlong deployment to Kuwait as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.



Faculty and staff news

Extended walk-in help hours today and Tuesday for benefits open enrollment

Human Resources will provide walk-in lab hours through 7 p.m. today and Tuesday (Nov. 11-12) to assist employees with benefits enrollment. The extended walk-in lab hours will be offered in Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5. Employees coming for assistance should enter through the front door of Freehafer Hall at 401 S. Grant St.

Recorded benefits enrollment presentation now online

A recorded version of the "2014 Benefits Enrollment" presentation is now available on the Human Resources website at www.purdue.edu/hr/Benefits/Medical/recordedPresentations.html.

Today's benefit enrollment events

The following events are scheduled for today (Nov. 11):

  • Walk-in labs at 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. in Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5, and noon-6 p.m. in Stanley Coulter Hall, Room 189.
  • "2014 Benefits Enrollment" presentation at 1-2 p.m. in Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, Room 121.
Visit www.purdue.edu/benefits/enroll.html for a schedule of live sessions and additional help. Open enrollment ends at 6 p.m. (ET) Nov. 15.

Federal Express account number to change

Purdue's Federal Express main account number is changing as of Saturday (Nov. 16).

SharePoint group meeting to highlight working with document sets, upgrade to SharePoint 2013

Individuals who use SharePoint can learn more about working with the tool's document sets at the next SharePoint Users and Developers (SPUD) meeting, which takes place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13) in Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142.

Registration open for staff recognition luncheon

Registration is now open for the University Clerical and Service Staff Recognition Luncheon on Dec. 12. To register, go to www.conf.purdue.edu/hrevents. The website includes a listing of honorees and other event information, including how faculty, staff and others can show appreciation for an honoree by attending.
