Purdue Student Union Board to salute veterans

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University will honor veterans in a tribute at 11 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 11).

The Purdue Student Union Board will present its Veterans Day Tribute in the Union Great Hall. The tribute will include "Presentation of the Colors" by the Tri-service Color Guard, the "Pledge of Allegiance," the national anthem and songs by the Purduettes, two speeches by local veterans, a table of remembrance, a moment of silence, and three memorial volleys to end the event.

Two chances to honor veterans and soldiers will be available in the Purdue Memorial Union, East Main Lounge. These displays will include photographs from local veterans and Purdue and "Our Heroes Wall," where community members and students can commemorate a family member or friend who has served or is serving by creating a small ornament.

Refreshments also will be provided. Events will be free and open to the public.

* Kevin Allen Vedder, Lieutenant Colonel (P), Indiana Army National Guard
