Danny White's deep connections to the motorsports industry -- in Indiana and elsewhere -- help him give Purdue students a head start on careers in the field. White, director of motorsports at Purdue and an Indianapolis native, has a long resume in motorsports, and now he helps place talented students in IndyCar-related internships that often lead to permanent jobs. Purdue Board of Trustees chairman announces retirement

Keith Krach, chairman of the Purdue Board of Trustees, has announced that he will retire from the board, having completed two full terms. His departure will be effective at the conclusion of the July 19 board meeting.

Governor names Purdue Board of Trustees appointees

Gov. Mike Pence named appointees to the Purdue Board of Trustees on Wednesday.

Section of Grant Street to be closed week of July 8

Grant Street will be closed to through traffic from North Street to Northwestern Avenue on July 8-12. During this time, contractors will be running utilities from Knoy Hall to the future site of Bailey Hall. Local traffic will still be able to access the drive north of Grissom Hall from Grant Street.

Drinking water exceeds standards according to report

By law, Purdue Water Works is required to inform its customers of the quality of drinking water on campus. Purdue Water Works is pleased to report that the drinking water not only meets but also exceeds the standards established by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.

New IT service alert system pushes emails on unscheduled events

Automatic email message alerts when Purdue's core IT services are not operating as expected are available to students, staff and faculty as of June 10. Individuals can subscribe to alerts for services most important to them on the ITaP Service Alerts page at itap.purdue.edu/servicealerts.

Faculty, staff get access to versatile screencasting software Camtasia, Snagit

A new system-wide licensing agreement allows faculty and staff at all Purdue campuses to access screencasting applications Camtasia Studio and Snagit for both PCs and Macs, on campus and at home. ITaP's software distribution unit can help those who want the software.

Purdue Today schedule change

Purdue Today will reduce its publishing schedule next week due to the July 4 holiday. It will be published Monday (July 1) and then resume on July 8.

A team of researchers and industry partners led by Purdue is demonstrating its software-defined network protocol computer software designed to improve communication between manufacturing and medical facilities at the Mozilla Ignite Challenge this week in Chicago.

Students with disabilities put adaptive lab resources to test during summer program

Six college students with disabilities are able to be active members of research teams where laboratory equipment can be adapted and assistive technologies added for their personal mobility and visual or hearing challenges as part of a Purdue summer program.

Life Success program

Purdue football running back Jonathan Curry passes the ball to a participant of the Purdue Athletes Life Success (PALS) program during a football clinic at the south practice field. PALS, which began June 13 and will run through July 12, has benefited nearly 3,000 low-income children in Tippecanoe County for more than a decade by providing lessons about sports and healthy living, and it also is boosting campers' self-esteem and interest in physical activity, according to new research. Purdue names new softball head coach

Kim Schuette, who led Eastern Illinois to Ohio Valley Conference championships in 2011 and 2013, on Monday (June 24) was named the third head coach in Purdue softball history.

Varsho earns Easton All-America honors

Junior outfielder Andie Varsho added one final honor to her list of accomplishments in 2013 when she was named to the Easton All-American first team on Tuesday.

Mingo receives Honda Inspiration Award

Drey Mingo accepted the Honda Inspiration Award on Monday evening from the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) during a live telecast of the 2013 Honda Cup on ESPNU at the USC Galen Center Founders Room in Los Angeles, Calif. Head coach Sharon Versyp and senior associate athletics director Nancy Cross attended the event in support of Mingo. .
