Leadership programs

Krannert showing the way with global leadership programs

Krannert School of Management is making a name for itself with two programs that address one of the highest-value and most-demanded commodities in business -- leadership. Launching Global Leaders (LGL), a leadership initiative Krannert introduced in 2011 as a pilot program, is now part of the curriculum for all master's students. A companion program aimed at undergraduates, Launching Business Leaders (LBL), made its debut in fall 2012. The spring 2013 issue of Krannert Magazine highlights the programs here.

Garimella named Purdue chief global affairs officer

President Mitch Daniels has named Suresh Garimella as the University's chief global affairs officer, effective immediately.

Interim vice president chosen for Physical Facilities

Ted Weidner, senior director of project management and construction, has been chosen to serve as interim vice president for physical facilities, effective Monday (June 10). Weidner succeeds Bob McMains, who is leaving the University on Friday (June 7) to take a position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Arizona State associate dean to lead new Honors College

Rhonda Phillips, associate dean of Barrett, The Honors College of Arizona State University, will be the dean of Purdue University's new Honors College.

Pekny selected as interim director designate for Discovery Park's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship

Purdue chemical engineering professor Joseph Pekny has been appointed interim director designate of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, working with current director Richard Cosier until he returns to the Krannert School of Management full time in August, where their collaborations will continue.

Health coaching helps employees live tobacco free and lower medical premium

West Lafayette faculty and staff ready to stop tobacco use can find help through the Center for Healthy Living. The center provides Living Tobacco Free health coaching at no charge to benefits-eligible employees and to family members covered on a Purdue medical plan.

Services help employees needing MRIs or CT scans get required approval, find reasonable price

Employees and family members covered on a Purdue medical plan who need high-tech imaging, like an MRI or CT scan, have two services to help them get the right test at a reasonable price: MedSolutions and Castlight.

Telecommunications extension to affect West Lafayette traffic during June

Commuters using U.S. 231/Northwestern Avenue in the West Lafayette area along the Purdue campus should anticipate temporary lane closures in the coming weeks due to a telecommunication extension. This work will also limit pedestrian traffic between the Physics Building and the Materials and Electrical Engineering Building.

PEAP sets Taste of Chicago trip

The Purdue Employees Activity Program, a subcommittee of the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee, is sponsoring a trip on July 13 to Chicago for the 33rd annual Taste of Chicago food festival.

In addition to finding continued success on the court, the Purdue volleyball and men's basketball teams received the NCAA Public Recognition Award for posting a multi-year academic progress rate among the top 10 percent of their respective sports.

Big Ten announces 2015 football schedule

The Big Ten has released the conference schedule for the 2015 season. In addition to playing nonconference foes Marshall, Indiana State, Notre Dame and Bowling Green, the Boilermakers will face Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois and Indiana in West Lafayette and will travel to Michigan State, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Iowa.
