America.gov features essay by Purdue grad

America.gov, a website produced by the U.S. Department of State, has published an essay written by Debarchana Basu, a recent Purdue grad from India. In the essay, Basu speaks about his studies in Purdue's linguistics program and many experiences on campus, including "firsts" such as his first time presenting at a conference, first snow and first trip to Starbucks. 2010 National Student Steel Bridge Competition at Purdue

President France A. Córdova joined members of the Purdue National Student Steel Bridge Competition committee as they examined entries on Purdue Mall on Friday. Civil engineering students from universities around the United States and Canada competed in this year's contest, which was won by North Dakota State University. The 46 competing teams complied with criteria that specified how quickly to erect the bridges; guidelines regarding weight, strength and aesthetics; and restrictions related to environmental consideration. The spans, roughly 20 feet long by 3 feet wide, were tested with punishing stresses until they failed. (Purdue University photo/Mark Simons).

Women's golf team on cover of Golfweek, honored by Purdue trustees

The Purdue women's golf team is featured on the cover of Golfweek after winning the 2010 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. The cover is here. The team also has been honored by Purdue's Board of Trustees for its accomplishment. The board's resolution of congratulations is here.

Boudia wins gold to open FINA Diving World Cup
