Virtual tour of Mackey Plaza available online

Mackey Plaza virtual tour

Take a look at the future of Mackey Arena with a virtual tour of Mackey Plaza narrated by Sharon Versyp, Purdue women's basketball head coach; Matt Painter, men's basketball head coach; and Morgan Burke, director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The virtual tour is included in the "Top Stories" section of the Purdue women's basketball page.

Mackey Arena is currently undergoing a $99.5 million renovation that will create an expanded concourse and other fan amenities while maintaining the tradition of the arena. The project also includes a three-level Student-Athlete Development Center for academics, sports medicine, strength and weight training, and a new basketball practice facility and locker rooms. Protein helps cells duplicate correctly, avoid becoming cancer

Xiaoqi Liu

A Purdue researcher has discovered that the absence of certain proteins needed for proper cell duplication can lead to cancer.

Xiaoqi Liu, assistant professor of biochemistry, found that cytoplasmic linker protein-170, or CLIP-170, plays a major role in proper cell duplication and DNA distribution. When the protein is removed, cell duplicates lack entire copies of DNA and can become cancerous. Liu's findings were published in the early online version of the "Journal of Biological Chemistry." More

A two-day workshop to help grant writers of all skill and experience levels learn how to write a grant proposal will be offered by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service. More

Day in the Life series continues Wednesday

The Office of the Dean of Students will sponsor its second program in the Day in the Life brownbag lunch series at noon Wednesday in Room G066, Haas Hall. "A Day in the Life of Students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ)" will feature a panel sharing their experiences as LGBTQ students at Purdue. The series is free and open to all Purdue faculty, staff, and students. More
