Building Services summer memo about trash, windows

Summer office cleaning procedures and frequency, as well as exterior window cleaning plans, are explained in a memo to building deputies from Terry Ashlock, Building Services director. The memo includes guidelines regarding trash and recycling for anyone planning a major office cleaning out or moving out, plus a request to inform the custodian if a space will be unused for an extended time and trash pickup is not needed. Purdue e-mail storage limit increases with upgrades coming this summer

Users of ITaP's Exchange and Mailhub services can expect to see some changes when it comes to e-mail this summer. Both services are being upgraded, and the mailbox storage limit will increase from 500 MB to 1 GB. More

ITaP taking orders for new research supercomputing cluster and individual systems

Orders for nodes in the new Coates community cluster are now being taken by Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP). This also is an opportunity for departments or individuals purchasing computing equipment for use outside the cluster to take advantage of big price breaks available in a group purchase, said John Campbell, associate vice president for information technology. TLT to provide Web-based classes on Blackboard

Teaching & Learning Technologies (TLT), a unit of ITaP, is offering two Web-based, self-paced classes for faculty, staff and graduate students. Blackboard Online: Getting Started and Blackboard Online: Mastering the Grade Book will be available May 18 through June 26. Participants can begin either class any time during the open time period and work through the classes at their own pace. Students help local families through Project Move Out

University Residences student workers from Hilltop Apartments load trucks with items donated to Project Move Out for local families in need. Students moving out of residence halls donated items that otherwise might have gone to landfills. Resident assistants helped collect and deliver the items to the Purdue Armory, where they were sorted for distribution through the Boiler Volunteer Network's project. Project Move Out ran May 8-10.

Top male graduate to help entrepreneurial firm

Eric Barnard, an agricultural economics major from Flora, Ind., received the G.A. Ross Award as the outstanding graduating man at Purdue. Purdue researcher keeps pushing for deeper knowledge

Dan Szymanski
Making new discoveries in the lab is a thrill for Dan Szymanski, but it's never enough. Szymanski, associate professor in agronomy, studies the most intricate and complicated processes in plant cells. When he discovers how a process works, he feels a need to understand what triggered the process, causing him to dig ever deeper. Szymanski has been named winner of the 2009 Agricultural Research Award. More
