2008 Boilermaker Ball draws sellout crowd

President Córdova dances with Purdue Pete
More than 500 alumni and friends of Purdue University attended the 2008 Purdue Alumni Association's Boilermaker Ball on Feb. 28 in Indianapolis.

"Union Station in Indianapolis was filled with Purdue pride for our first Boilermaker Ball," Kirk Cerny, executive director and CEO of the association, said.

"We sold all the tickets that were available for the event," Cerny said. "Attendees spent a magical evening enjoying wonderful food, great music and Purdue friendships. We want to make next year's event just as successful and look forward to hearing from our Boilermaker friends how we can best do that." More

Terrorism expert will conclude the 2008 Sears Lecture series

Robert Pape

An expert on suicide terrorism will speak at Purdue on March 26 as part of the Sears Lecture Series.

Robert Pape, professor of political science at the University of Chicago and author of "Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism" will present "What's Wrong with the War on Terrorism" at 8 p.m. in Fowler Hall. Pape is the final speaker for the 2007-08 Sears Lecture series, which focused on "U.S. Security in an Insecure World." Pape's talk is free and open to the public. More

Scientist to talk about how the mind hears music

A neuroscientist will speak April 2 during Purdue's Steer Lecture Series about how the brain processes music.

Aniruddh D. Patel, the Esther J. Burnham Fellow at the Neurosciences Institute in San Diego, will present "Music and the Brain: 3 Links to Language" at 3:30 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 206. A reception precedes the talk at 3 p.m. More
