Description: The course is concerned with the main theoretical and methodological issues in the study of class structure and social mobility. Special attention will be given to classical conflict theory and modern functional theory in terms of their validity and relevance. The meaning and measurement of social mobility will be examined, as well as the psychological, structural, and cultural bases of individual and group mobility.
