Description: This course will be a series of lectures by guest speakers who discuss issues of science and its role in society. This is a two credit course open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Students will have reading assignments that serve as background material for the invited lectures, will be required to write an essay which examines in depth one of the topics presented during the semester. Each student will make an oral presentation based on their essay. Grades will be determined on the basis of the essay, oral presentation, and class participation.
