Short Title: | Found Appl Neural Nets |
Description: | An introductory treatment of the fundamental principles of artificial neural networks, their implementations, and main applications. Topics to be covered include aspects of supervised learning, such as perceptrons, delta rule, back propagation, and aspects of unsupervised learning, such as vector quantization, phonotopic and somatopic maps, adaptive resonance theory, and the Hopfield Model. Applications studied include speech and character recognition, signal processing, and medical diagnosis. Two projects will be completed, one of which will be from the student's own field of interest. |
