Description: Analysis of monetary policy and the regulation of depository institutions. The macroeconomic implications (inflation and unemployment) of alternative monetary policy strategies, as well as the details of Federal Reserve System operating procedures will be studied. Recent issues in the regulation of depository institutions will be examined, including the provision of deposit insurance, the regulation of deposit interest rates, interstate banking restrictions, and regulatory policy towards insolvent banks. The international monetary system will also be examined as it relates to monetary policy and the regulation of depository institutions.
