Description: Advanced methods for theoretical seismology; elastodynamic theorems; seismic source theory for earthquakes and explosions; scattering of plane waves and spherical waves; physics of layered and radially varying media; seismic attenuation; asymptotic ray methods and finite difference methods for the calculation of seismic waves in laterally varying media. Offered in alternate years. Prerequisite: EAS 45000, MA 30400.
