Short Title: Basin Analysis
Description: Advanced study of tectonic evolution and stratigraphic history of sedimentary basins. Topics include formative mechanisms of different sedimentary basins; tectonic, eustatic, and climatic controls on basin stratigraphy; relationship of depositional systems to basin types; subsidence and thermal histories; and application of basin analysis to petroleum reservoir and groundwater aquifer assessment. Required field trips. Offered in alternate years.
