Description: The use of numerical methods to obtain answers in problems arising in probability and statistics. Topics will include the use of the likelihood function. Bayesian and classical methods of estimation and testing, evaluation of probabilities, linear and nonlinear regression. Some knowledge of computing desirable. Desired courses: STAT 532 and STAT 554 and some knowledge of complex analysis.
