Short Title: Aviation Meteorology
Description: This course is designed for students who have an interest in topics in meteorology applied to aviation operations with emphasis on meteorological hazards for instrument flight. Topics covered include obtaining and evaluating weather data, review of synoptic meteorology, map analysis, the ICAO standard atmosphere, pressure and altimetry, atmospheric thermodynamics, moisture and stability, low-IFR operations, aircraft icing, turbulence, thunderstorms and associated hazards, and interpretation and use of radar and satellite imagery.
