Description: Examination of the social aspects of health beliefs, the definition of disease, and decisions regarding the seeking of medical care. Identification of major changes in patterns and frequencies of health, sickness, disease, and death in the 20th and 21st centuries and factors influencing these patterns. Analysis of characteristics of U.S. medical care systems with particular emphasis on the economics and ethics of health care delivery, the production and distribution of medical personnel, and comparisons with other systems.
