Description: Family dynamics and health needs throughout the family's life cycle are examined. A family assessment is used as a database for planning, implementing and evaluating preventive and therapeutic health care for the purpose of assisting families toward their optimal level of functioning. Skills in critical thinking and application of theory are examined thus enhancing the role of the professional nurse in caring for families.
