Description: | Together, the courses EE 290, 390, and 490 create a vertical project track under which students work in teams on long-term engineering projects. Each team consists of a mix of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Projects of at least one year in duration are intended to solve real problems that are defined in consultation with "customers" from Purdue or the community. The responsibilities of juniors include assisting the seniors in the planning and organization of the project, the solution of technical problems, meeting with the customer, and the supervision of sophomores. They have principal responsibility for finding sources of information or technical expertise needed for the project. Students are encouraged to participate in an EPICS project team for two or more semesters via enrollment in EE 290 while a sophomore, EE 390 while a junior, and EE 490 while a senior. |
