Short Title: Lab Molecular Biol
Description: Introduction to techniques useful for the molecular characterization of proteins and nucleic acids. Nucleic acids will be isolated from plant and animal tissue and PCR amplification of DNAs will be carried out. Student will learn to design primers for amplification of specific gene loci. Protocols will be learned in the context of an ongoing project that uses molecular methods to follow the inheritance of genetic polymorphisms in plants.
