Short Title: Hist Of Am South
Description: This course will stress those political and social traits that make the region between the Potomac and Rio Grande rivers a cultural province conscious of its identity. This regional course will focus on those differences which made the South a unique region and the interrelations between the South and the nation of which it was a part. Half of the course will deal with the major events in the South's history after the Civil War, especially dealing with industry, agriculture, and the rise and fall of Jim Crow.
