Description: | This course will cover the restoration of western Europe after World War II and the division of Europe into two mutually hostile camps, one communist, the other capitalist. The course will review the history of the Cold War and explore the political, social and economic factors that led to the end of the Soviet Empire. The course will, also, attempt to discuss the aftermath of the demise of the Soviet Union, ethnic violence, social disintegration, and economic decline. It will, also, look at the beginning of democratic institutions. |
