Description: This is the first in a series of courses with variable content and variable titles that are designed for first year students enrolled in an honors program in one of the Schools at Purdue. Students in this course will read and discuss material from various sources including Steven Brush's article "Should the History of Science be X-Rated?"; Chalmer's What is this thing called Science?; as well as extracts from the Harvard Case Histories in Experimental Science, edited by James Bryant Conant and Science and its Ways of Knowing, by Hatton and Ploufee.
