Short Title: Advanced Plting Design
Description: Advanced methods and practice of creating planting plans, emphasizing success of landscape plants based on site suitability, function in the landscape, and intended use of the site. The focus is on detailed, cultivar-level selection and arrangement of woody and herbaceous plants, especially the seasonality and sequencing of plant interest. Of particular importance will be garden design based on classical and contemporary themes, but also including native plant community re-creation, or creation of naturalized landscapes. Emphasis is placed on developing a student's ability to evaluate a site rapidly, gain client input, and respond with appropriate planting proposals.
