Short Title: | Chaos And Fractals |
Description: | This course explores novel ideas in geometry and dynamical systems as they appear in natural phenomena. Irregular patterns in nature can be understood in terms of fractal geometry. Physical processes that appear to be random actually obey a deterministic law. The concepts of chaos and fractals help us to understand these processes. This course is intended for non-science majors. There is no need for a background in college math. However, knowledge of mathematics at high school level is required. |
