Short Title: Survey Of Astronomy
Description: An introduction to the science of astronomical observation and interpretation including the historical development of calendars, and the structure of the solar system, the classification and the lifecycles of stars and other stellar objects, galaxies, and modern cosmological models. Laboratory exercises will be simple demonstrations of basic principles: the universe square law, composition of planets and their atmospheres, backyard urban" observation, stellar spectra and use of a computer-based planetarium.
