Description: The study of the inter-relationships between the parts of a programming language. The design goals and motivations for various languages will be discussed. Topics will include a comparison of block-structured languages, list processing languages, functional programming languages and logic programming languages. Specific examples of each type of language and its advantages and disadvantages will also be included.
