Description: | Fundamental techniques of pure culture are emphasized, including isolation and indentification of unknown organisms, measurement of cell growth, control of microbial growth, and studies of human commensal organisms. Students will use these skills to investigate disinfectant claims, microbial contamination of food, and biodegradation of environmental pollutants. In order to receive credit for this course as a Biology elective, students must also complete BIOL 438 concurrently. |
