Short Title: Organic Chemistry
Description: Required for students majoring in chemistry or chemical engineering; recommended for other science majors and pre-medical and pre-dental students. A comprehensive study of the chemical principles underlying aliphatic and aromatic compounds. Emphasis is placed on the commercial and laboratory syntheses of these materials as well as their uses. Mechanisms, stereochemistry, and spectroscopy are stressed to illustrate the logic inherent in the subject matter and to demonstrate the predictability of many of the chemical transformations discussed.
