Description: Advanced treatment of principles and recent advances in plant genetics including: haploidy, chromosomal aberrations, transposable elements, mutations and paramutations in higher plants; crop evolutionary mechanisms, cytogenetic and molecular affinities between crop plants and their wild relatives; manipulation of gene pools for crop improvement with emphasis on new methodologies of gene transfer including wide crosses, cellular, molecular, and direct approaches, and molecular basis of genetic engineering for crop improvement.
