Short Title: | Developmental Biology |
Description: | This course deals with the process by which the genes in the fertilized egg control cell behavior in the embryo and so determine the nature of the animal or plant. The emphasis is on early development and the laying down of body plan and organ systems in various model systems (Drosophila, nematoda, Arabidopsis, zebra fish, mouse, chick, and frog). Laboratory will offer students the experience working with different model systems to observe developmental processes, examine key regulatory gene expression, and manipulate gene functions using different biochemical, molecular and genetic approaches. |
