Description: Teaches advanced concepts in basic immunology and applications to disease prevention and therapy. Emphasis is on recent developments and experimental approaches in this rapidly evolving discipline. Topics include antigen presentation, T-cell development, signal transduction in B and T lymphocytes, immunoglobulin structure, type I hypersensitivity (asthma), neuroendocrine regulation of the immune response, immune response in viral infections (influenza and HIV), and tumor immunology.
