Description: This course presents an overview of major crops and how they are being used (food, fiber, chemicals, etc.), which traits are important for those applications, which biochemical pathways or physiological processes are controlling those traits, and how those processes can be optimized through the use of plant breeding, genetic engineering, environmental conditions, or post-harvest processing. Offered in odd numbered years. Prerequisite: BCHM 56100; 3 credit in Plant Physiology.
