Short Title: | Readings With The Dean |
Description: | John Contreni, the Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and students enrolled in the course will read and discuss Daniel H. Pink's A Whole New Mind: Moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age (New York: Riverhead Books, 2005). Pink argues that "the future belongs to a very different kind of person with a very different mind--creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers, and meaning makers. These people--artists, inventors, designers, storytellers, caregivers, consolers, big picture thinkers--will now reap society's richest rewards and share its greatest joys." The course will explore how this view fits in with a liberal arts education. |
