Description: An introduction to COBOL programming with an emphasis on redesign of legacy COBOL applications to extend their useful lifetime in contemporary organizations. Topics include user interface redesign, structured design, object-oriented programming, and transition from conventional files to databases. Students learn to analyze existing programs to isolate legacy code problems, develop and test solutions, and integrate solutions into software libraries.
