Description: This course will introduce students to the basic themes of Caribbean literature. Specifically, we will examine the way in which Caribbean writers present a colonial past and its effect on Caribbean culture in their attempts to "write back" to imperial thoughts. We will examine the politics of decolonization and how writers construct/reconstruct Caribbean cultures and identities.
