Description: | Central to all new product success stories lays a complex blend of creativity, technical skills and perhaps most critically, project management skills. Successful blending of these skills is often considered as much art as science. A successful project manager must understand when to balance scientific exploration with technical requirements and impending timelines. This course is designed to develop you knowledge of the product development process and familiarity with project management skills and tools common to the industry. Taught from the perspective of a R&D scientist, this course will focus on traditional models of product development including Stage-Gate. The entire development process will be discussed from ideation, generation of project briefs and debriefs, organization and execution of the development process and finally, proper support of new product launches. Through the course students will organize their homework and projects by use of project management tools (Microsoft Project) providing them exposure to common software tools and methods utilized in by the Food Industry. |
