Description: Examines the role of financial statement analysis in the evaluation of the firm and the prediction of its future condition. Designed to provide the student with the skills to analyze financial statements; an appreciation for the usefulness and the limitations of financial statements analysis in specific decision contexts (e.g., investment, lending, and merger decisions); an understanding of how the incentives of financial statement producers may affect the resulting financial reports; and an ability to critically assess the validity and the relevance of research which uses accounting data in various decision contexts. Prerequisite: MGMT 60100.
