Description: Emphasizes the role of the nurse in assisting children and families of all cultural backgrounds in health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Utilizes critical thinking, culturally sensitive age-appropriate communication, technical skills, leadership/management skills, growth and development concepts, and the nursing process to care for children with diseases unique to childhood. Laboratory experiences focus on pediatric healthcare in the community, as well as the acute care setting.
