Description: A continuation of ENGL 350, this course surveys American literature from the Civil War to recent times, emphasizing such major literary figures as Dickinson, Twain, James, Crane, Frost, T.S. Eliot, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, and Faulkner. The course also treats significant minor writers in their relation to literary movements and ideas and includes the work of minority writers.
