Description: Functions of a retail establishment are examined. The topics covered include retail operations planning; buyer behavior, store design, location, and layout; organizing and staffing the retail firm; merchandise management; pricing concepts and strategies; promotion; credit; financial management; and a discussion of the future of retailing. Emphasis is given to significant developments taking place in the major environments of retailing to include social, economic, technological, and legal aspects.
