Description: Close analysis of representative texts (poetry, drama, fiction) designed to develop art of lively, responsible reading through class discussion and writing of papers, including a documented research paper. Attention to literary design of critical method. May be repeated once for credit by special arrangement with department of English and Linguistics. Approved by Arts and Sciences for use in fulfilling the sophomore writing requirement. Recommended prior to taking upper-level courses.
