Description: The course is an overview of the architecture, philosophy, and biographical background of one of America's foremost architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. The lectures explore his prolific output of architectural commissions along with his efforts at community planning, furniture design, textile design, and related arts. L A 266 provides a broad overview of American architecture through a survey of Wright's predecessors, mentors, peers, and his antagonists. The course includes two field trips, one to Oak Park, Illinois, the community featuring the largest number of built works by Wright, and to the John E. Christian residence, 'Samara' in West Lafayette.
