Description: An introduction to modern molecular biology techniques and how they are used to address current topics in gene regulation. Emphasis will be placed on experimental procedures and model systems, such as site-directed mutagenesis of isolated genes and their subsequent introduction into prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Topics will address the molecular control mechanisms associated with DNA replication, RNA transcription, RNA processing, and differential gene expression.
