Short Title: Spring Flora Indiana
Description: Students will be introduced to the diversity of plants in Indiana. Students will collect plants on field trips and will take them back to the laboratory for identification. Lectures accompanying these laboratories will cover basic plant morphology (necessary for keying out plants) and basic principles of plant evolution and ecology. Several day-long field trips will be made to a number of state parks in Indiana to sample different plant communities (e.g., the dwarf shore flora of Lake Michigan, bogs, prairies, hardwood forests, aquatic habitats, etc.).
