Description: This course covers the developmental foundations and curriculum applications of language/literacy curriculum in inclusive early childhood programs. Specific attention is given to typical and atypical development of young children and implications for curriculum, teaching strategies and learning goals for children in an early childhood classroom. It includes ways to plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate language, social, and literacy activities for children with and without disabilities. Understanding and practicing the teacher's role in facilitating learning through planning and coordinating, sequencing and evaluating curricula are also emphasized. A practicum experience with young children is included. For Early Childhood Education & Exceptional Needs majors only, admittance to Gate B is required.
