Description: The role of data comminications in modern business environments is explored. Real time systems and data transmission techniques are covered. Topics include terminal equipment, communication media, data codes, error detection and correction, local area versus wide area networks, digital transmission techniques, terminal software, and the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model for network software. The primary emphasis in the course is on software aspects.
